Black Friday Shopping to Support a Cause

Posted by ruckusholly on November 22nd, 2011

Ruckus Media St. Jude promotionThis Thanksgiving, we are giving back.  With EVERY Ruckus app sold, we are donating 100% of the net proceeds to the children of St. Jude Children’s Hospital®.  Not only can you get a head start on your holiday shopping  (apps do make great stocking stuffers!), but you will support a wonderful cause.  In addition, we are dropping the price of all our apps to $1.99 each.  It’s truly Black Friday Shopping to support a cause.

It’s the eighth annual Thanks and Giving campaign, a holiday campaign that asks shoppers to “Give thanks for the healthy kids in your life, and give to those who are not,” and we’re proud to be a partner to help make a difference in these children’s lives.

Beginning today and running over Black Friday and through Monday, November 28th, 2011, we  will donate to St. Jude 100% of the net proceeds ($1.39) of the company’s entire digital library including the iTunes bestseller MY LITTLE PONY: TWILIGHT SPARKLE, TEACHER FOR A DAY and Moms’ Choice award winner CHUCK AND FRIENDS: FRIENDS FOR THE LONG HAUL, both featuring beloved Hasbro characters; holiday Read-Play-and-Record-Along classics THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS and THE VELEVETEEN RABBIT, both told by Meryl Streep; among many other interactive storybooks. You will be supporting the hospital’s lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children with cancer and other deadly diseases.

To learn more about the Thanks and Giving campaign and its partners, please visit www.stjude.org or call 1-800-4STJUDE. To purchase Ruckus’ interactive storybooks for iOS mobile devices and help support this campaign during the holiday season, visit the Ruckus Media Group page at iTunes.

Happy shopping!

Spending Time with Our Friends at BlogHer 2011

Posted by ruckusholly on August 9th, 2011

We have just returned from BlogHer, which was out in San Diego this year.  We can still feel the buzz generated and were so impressed with everyone that we came across in the quick 48 hours that the conference lasted.  The beauty of BlogHer and blogging, in general, is the amount of women who are blogging for all the right reasons.  Everyone in attendance shares the same passion for writing, passion for community, passion for building relationships with brands, passion for changing the world.

And we’re happy to be one of those brands.  Before the conference date arrived, we’d arranged several meetings with our supporters and were excited to be an official sponsor of two events: Social Soiree and the Mom Select Swag Suite.

On Friday morning, we met with a handful of Ruckus supporters to match up Twitter handles to actual people.  Our group included Jill Berry from Musings From Me, Caryn Haluska from Living with Logan, Gina Osher from The Twin Coach, Megan Montgomery and Shannon Schulte from Sweepstakes Mama, Kay Lynn Akers from Two Savvy Sisters, S. Denise Hoyle from Multiple Mayhem, Alli Doubek from Couponing for 4 and Crystal from Surviving a Teacher’s Salary.  It was great to get feedback I.R.L. on our apps and talk a little about our future plans with everyone.  Here are a few photos from the breakfast:

We went to as many sessions as we could.  We went to one on web design with Jill from Scary Mommy (one of our former blog writers), vlogging with Carley from Digitwirl, as well as a many of the Geek Bar sessions where we were able to concentrate on the nuts and bolts of blogging.  We really appreciated the panelist Tara Sophia Mohr’s approach to marketing which relies on fostering genuine relationship ties with your audience instead of trying to cram something down their throats. This is something that we, as a company, are careful about.  We want real, solid relationships with bloggers.  We’re building a community and that’s why being at BlogHer was so meaningful for us.

Every which way we looked, there were other members of our vibrant Ruckus community.  We bumped into Tamara Walker from Mom RN, Carrie from Carrie with Children, Charlene from Charlene Chronicles, Leticia Barr from Tech Savvy Mama, Karen Heffren from Desert Deals Diva and Stehanie Johnson from The Blue Zoo.  The list goes on and it was an honor and pleasure to meet so many fabuous, brilliant moms who value parenting and technology as much as we do.

We ended the weekend with a bang, attending the Clever Girls Collective Ladies Who Tech Brunch.  It was a pleasure to see and hear so many of our favorite women in tech and the space was buzzing with female tech leaders.   It was further proof that women are more digitally savvy than ever.

We applaud everyone we met at BlogHer, and for those we didn’t meet, please get in touch.  You can also sign up for our newsletter, join us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, watch our videos on You Tube, connect to us on Linked In or join our feed.

BlogHer11 Tips from Tweeps

Posted by ruckusholly on July 28th, 2011

BlogHerLike everyone else who is heading to San Diego next week for BlogHer 2011, our heads are spinning.  We are getting our schedule ready and planning meetings, printing collateral, arranging child care…there is just so much to do.   With just a week until we are gathered on the west coast for the biggest female blogger’s event of the year, we gathered with our friends on Twitter to discuss what’s on our minds.  We talked about wardrobe a bit (who doesn’t), but mainly discussed our goals and plans and how we’re preparing for the few short days we have until it all begins.

Some of our tweeps provided some interesting tips on making the most out of the conference.  Here’s what they said:

sdenise: Tip – check weather before UGO – it 73 in SD right now, big diff from my current 94 degrees, & conf rooms R cold
TheTwinCoach I read that having preprinted address labels is helpful – so you don’t wast time filling out a million forms
desertdealsdiva I have a crazy schedule right now… I think I need to pair mine down, but there are so many great opportunities!
sdenise  Having a plan is great idea!
TheTwinCoach I heard it’s good to post some of your best posts for a few days after since ppl will be checking your site
MyBaybah I have my flip flops ready for to keep in my purse
sdenise  You’ll get LOTS of bags there! RT @ostmega@MyBaybah I’m thinking about bringing my grocery bags that roll up in my purse!
TheTwinCoach  You are so right! I’m doing what Holly suggested – trade it in or say no if I don’t really want it.

You can get the full script by going to Twitter and look at hashtag #RuckusBlogHer.  If you are planning to be there, please let us know in the comment section below so we can get in touch and meet IRL.

Thanks to everyone who came.  See you at our next Twitter Party next month about an EXCITING Hasbro-branded app, My Little Pony.  Details coming soon.
